As a community-owned, not-for-profit electric service provider, we’re all about improving the lives of our community members. One way we do that is by helping our customers lower their bills and adopt cleaner energy solutions.
We’re proud to share that Children’s Choice for Hearing and Talking (CCHAT) Sacramento has become the first organization to construct and activate their solar and battery storage system through our new Solar & Storage for Nonprofits Pilot Program. By making the switch to clean energy, they’ve already cut their energy usage by 77% compared to the same time last year!
This initiative supports our goal of reducing costs for nonprofits while promoting community resilience and working toward a clean energy future.

SMUD Board Member Gregg Fishman and SMUD team members joined CCHAT for music and a ribbon cutting in celebration of the completion of their solar and battery storage project.
